Your Local Elected City Leaders Meet in La Junta Monday, the Agenda is Out

(La Junta, CO) -- Monday night at 6, city council in La Junta is expected to continue an item that was laid over from the last meeting concerning the liquor license request from the Family Dollar.

While Family Dollar attorney Jonathon Crumbly was present to speak on the request, the discussion brought up that several council members were concerned that no one locally from the Family Dollar store in La Junta was present to speak on the request.

Members of council were also concerned whether or not the employees had received training on the selling of alcohol.

It was tabled or set for talk for Monday August 15th due to those concerns.

There was a motion to have a representative of the Family Dollar store present to answer questions to those concerns.

On the agenda for the Monday August 15th meeting is also the possible vacancy determination for the Utility board. The board met this week to discuss the recommendation for removal of board member Ed Vela due to possible violations of the sunshine law. The board was advised they cannot remove Vela but recommend the discussion for action on the part of city council.

As always, the public is invited to attend and participate in person. The meeting is broadcasted live on the city of La Junta's Public Notice page on Facebook. If you cannot make the time of the meeting, the meeting will be available for viewing on the page afterwards.

The agenda for the Monday, August 15th meeting at 6pm is posted below:
