The First Amendment and This Site

First of all, Happy fourth of July weekend....we celebrate our freedom with get togethers, fireworks (in some places) pool parties, parades and parties.

One of the reasons the first amendment was first is that the founding fathers believed in free speech. There's a little more to it though.

According to the Library of Congress the text is as follows:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Back to the reason for this post, I will never silence your speech as long as it meets standards of the page. For example, you make not make threats of violence, you may not incite violence. In other words, don't cry fire in a crowded theatre. I'm sure you've heard this before.

I will respectfully hide comments of those making comments not related to our posts however, because we want to stay on topic as much as possible. I'm not hindering free speech, I'm moderating the page though. And the page is mine. My former radio show morning partner at KBLJ, Pat McGee used to say, "It's our sandbox, our rules."

If you have concerns about our stance on this, just email me privately, I invite thoughtful conversation and respect it. My email is anneboswell@coloradonewsyourway.com

Thank you for reading this far and being part of this awesome community. I hope you're enjoying free news of local, regional and state interest to our way of life in SE Colorado.

Sincerely,

Anne Boswell
