Rocky Ford Mayor Writes Letter After Grant Funding is Lost

(Rocky For, CO) -- Rocky Ford Mayor Duane Gurule is disappointed his community was notified they won't be getting a grant they anticipated.

Gurule wrote to Senators John Hickenlooper and Michael Bennet and Congressman Jeff Hurd of the 3rd District of Colorado. The letter expressed concern that a grant from the Thriving Communities Grantmaking Program had been frozen under a recent executive order.

Gurule has written letters to elected officials before asking for action. He said this is no different.

"It's kinda that initial step, we have a pretty open line of communication with our state rep and senator, and you know, when we send those emails, or even those conversations, they're able to provide those stories or share that testimony when they're speaking in the well."

Gurule said he hopes our elected officials can advocate for their planned project, which would have been funded with the grant.

The letter Mayor Gurule sent is posted below.
