SAVE the Date for VA Town Hall

(Colorado) -- Maybe you've heard that the Veteran's Administration is planning a few town halls and resource fairs in Eastern Colorado.

There will be opportunities to attend in Burlington, Lamar, La Junta, Alamosa and Salida.

The concerns in SE Colorado have been great following an announcement that the VA was considering closing VA Clinics in the Arkansas Valley. The Otero County Commissioners crafted a resolution opposing the closure in a public meeting.

If you want to attend the upcoming public town halls, the first is in Burlington on August 8th from 2:30 to 5:30-resource fair at the Ambulance Shed at 1576 Lowell Avenue. The town hall will happen from 5:30-6:30.

The dates for SE Colorado are:

  • August 9th, Lamar at the Lamar Senior Center at 407 East Olive Street. Resource Fair will be from 2:30-5:30, Town hall from 5:30-6:30.

  • August 10th, La Junta at the La Junta Senior Center at 114 East Second Street, Resource Fair will be from 2:30-5:30, Town Hall, from 5:30-6:30.

  • August 11th, Alamosa at the Colorado National Guard Readiness Center at 1877 Old Sanford Road. Resource fair, 2:30-5:30, Town hall 5:30-6:30.

  • August 12th, Salida, at the American Legion Post 64 at 235 West 10th Street. Resource Fair will be 2:30-5:30, Town hall, 5:30-6:30.

You can expect one-on-one support during the resource fairs.

Other news important to Veterans is the passage of legislation during the last Colorado General Assembly.

And if you're interested in what the VA is doing on a month to month basis. There is a news conference where many topics are addressed. The latest one for the month of July 2022, can be watched below.
