(Las Animas, CO) -- It's not everyday that Santa Comes to town but when he does, he does so because a tiny town came together to plan an awesomely appreciated event. Council member Kimberlie King collaborated to hold a tree lighting ceremony Saturday December 18th. She says it was long overdue to try to rekindle a nostalgic feel of what the town of Las Animas was and could be again. The ceremony was held in the city park. There were free horse drawn carriage rides, a visit from Santa and more. King says she's heard from community members that they'd like to bring back some traditions and pass them along to the next generation. This was the first year for this event but organizers say they hope they can bring it back every year.
