Broncos Fans Endure Some of the Worst Traffic in the NFL

New research has ranked every NFL stadium by game-day traffic congestion, with Empower Field at Mile High, home of the Denver Broncos, recording one of the worst overall traffic conditions in the NFL.
NFL fans heading to games can face dramatically different journeys depending on where their team plays, according to new research analyzing traffic around all 30 NFL stadiums.
The study from Betpack used TomTom Move traffic data within a one-kilometer radius to rank each NFL stadium according to three measures of traffic: congestion level, average speed and travel time per 6.2 miles. The three measures were combined into an overall Congestion Score.
Denver Broncos fans face the highest congestion levels
Denver Broncos fans heading to Empower Field at Mile High faced the highest congestion level in the ranking, at 238.5%. However, traffic moved considerably faster than at the top two stadiums, averaging 11.9 mph.
Despite this, travelling just over six miles would still take 31.1 minutes, contributing to an overall traffic score of 79.8, putting the Broncos in third place.

Tennessee Titans’ Nissan Stadium has the worst game-day traffic
Nissan Stadium, home of the Tennessee Titans, ranked as the most congested NFL stadium, with a total traffic score of 95.8 out of 100.
The stadium saw congestion levels reach a huge 215% compared with free-flow conditions on game-day, with average traffic speeds of just 6.2 mph. At that pace, it would take 60.5 minutes to travel just over six miles through the surrounding game-day traffic.
Chicago Bears fans face 215% higher congestion on game day
Soldier Field, home of the Chicago Bears, ranked second overall with a traffic score of 91.0 out of 100.
Although congestion was slightly higher than at Nissan Stadium, reaching 215.5% compared with free-flow conditions, traffic moved faster at 7.0 mph. A journey of just over six miles would therefore take 52.7 minutes.
Cleveland Browns fans face 47-minute journeys through game-day traffic
Huntington Bank Field, home of the Cleveland Browns, ranked fourth with a traffic score of 75.8 out of 100.
Game-day congestion reached 147.2%, while average speeds dropped to just 7.8 mph. This meant drivers could expect a journey of just over six miles to take 47.9 minutes.
Carolina Panthers stadium sees congestion reach 175.9% on game day
In fifth place was the Carolina Panthers’ Bank of America Stadium, scoring 72.6 out of 100.
Congestion reached 175.9%, with traffic moving at an average of 10.3 mph. At that speed, travelling just over six miles would take 36.1 minutes.
MetLife Stadium and Ford Field complete the top seven
The remaining stadiums in the top 10 were also found to have significant traffic issues, with MetLife Stadium, shared by the New York Jets and New York Giants, scoring 72.4 in sixth place, followed by the Detroit Lions’ Ford Field in seventh with a score of 71.8.
In eighth place was Levi’s Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers, scoring 68.1. Caesars Superdome, home of the New Orleans Saints, ranked ninth with a score of 65.8, while Lumen Field, home of the Seattle Seahawks, rounded out the top 10 with a score of 64.4.
Kansas City Chiefs have the least congested NFL stadium
At the other end of the table, the Kansas City Chiefs recorded the lowest overall traffic score, with Arrowhead Stadium scoring just 2.0 out of 100. This placed the stadium comfortably as the least congested NFL venue in the ranking.
