Resolution to Help Persons in Behavioral Crisis

(La Junta, CO) -- Otero County Commissioners took a step to insure that people experiencing a behavioral health crisis have transportation to get to where they need to go. The board adopted a resolution at Monday’s regular County Commissioner meeting. The resolution is in accordance with House Bill 21-1085 which will allow them to start a program that will issue licenses to vehicles that would take part in this program along with how rules of the program should be enforced. All 64 counties in Colorado would need to have this program in place by January 1, 2023. According to the fiscal note on the legislation, the costs to the state of Colorado for 2023-2024 are expected to be $529,764. Another requirement of the bill is that the CDPHE must annually publish publicly data collected from secure transportation providers.
