(La Junta, CO) -- There's been a little drop in the money that Otero county has collected from sales tax.
For June of 2022, Otero county collected $216,000 and that was above budget. However, comparing June of this year to June of last year, it was about $22,000 less this year.
January through June of this year, 1.99 percent less was collected this year.
Amy White Tanabe with the county has they're still on track to meet their budget however. She says the internet sales tax has collections boosted the numbers in recent years past.
Tanabe says June is historically low when looking at the numbers over the last few years.
