New Training Building Expected to be Done by Fall

(La Junta CO) -- By the time the leaves turn colors, the La Junta Rural Fire District and Fire Department are expecting to have their new training building complete. La Junta Fire Chief Brad Davidson says the new facility at 6th and Barnes will assist when the weather isn't so great.

"The board and I decided that it was time to build a new building over there to encompass a new classroom a bigger classroom and an indoor like a big apparatus bay on the backside of the building." Davidson says it will allow them to bring a truck inside and continue training in the winter.

Davidson says it will have a bigger classroom and be good for meetings too. It should be ready by the first part of October. The metal building will be insulated and finished on the inside.

The timing will be good considering the big asset would be to continue to train in bad weather.
