WREATHS ON SALE NOW

Las Animas VFW Auxiliary #2411 has kicked off their 14th annual Wreath’s Across America project. We REMEMBER, HONOR, AND TEACH. The National Theme this year is, “FIND A WAY TO SERVE!” The Auxiliary is selling $15.00 wreaths for Fort Lyon National Cemetery; Bent County/Las Animas Cemetery; and Peaceful Valley Cemetery on the Smith Ranch. The Auxiliary receives $5.00 for each wreath sold, and then in turn use this to help veteran projects in our area. Last year your donations helped us support the VFW Post in a time of need; provided a Veterans Day dinner; Christmas gifts for area veterans families and Fort Lyon veterans; Bent County Community Healthcare Center veterans; and the VA Pueblo Care Center veterans in Pueblo. You may order wreaths for other cemeteries, pick them up at Fort Lyon, or Las Animas, and distribute to your loved one’s graves in the area. We have 655 veterans’ graves at Bent County/Las Animas Cemetery; approximately 2300 interred at Fort Lyon National Cemetery; and 5 veterans at Peaceful Valley Cemetery. The Ceremony and simultaneous laying of all wreaths at all locations nationwide, at sea, and abroad, will be held on December 17, 2022. Everyone is encouraged to attend the wreath laying ceremony at Fort Lyon National Cemetery at 10:00 am, then help lay the wreaths at Fort Lyon and Bent County/Las Animas Cemeteries. Deadline for ordering wreaths is before Thanksgiving.
