Former Kiowa County Deputy in Court Today

(Eads, CO) -- It's another day in court for a former Kiowa County lawman as Quinten Stump is set to appear for a setting, a virtual appearance today ahead of his jury trial. Stump will go before that jury in May, according to the Kiowa county docket for district court. Stump will be tried for the shooting death of Zachery Gifford on a traffic stop in April of 2020. Stump faces two counts of second degree attempted murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon. Undersheriff Tracy Weisenhorn was with Stump on the traffic stop but was not charged because it was determined that she had not done a pat down and could have believed that Gifford had a weapon. The trial was originally set for January but was delayed.
