(Las Animas, CO) -- To clear up some confusion, when someone is booked into the jail the charges listed can change.
There's a note at the top of the inmate information page on the Bent County Sheriff's jail info page that states the following:
Information posted on this page is provided for informational purposes only. The records provided are historical, and are not necessarily updated after their posting date. While every effort is made to ensure that the posted information is accurate, it may contain factual or other errors. Inmate information changes quickly and the posted information may not reflect the current information. An arrest does not mean that the inmate has been convicted of the crime. This information also does not imply guilt or innocence. The information on this page should not be used for any type of legal action.
Social media has been abuzz with confusion because of shared screenshots from the first set of charges, which were later adjusted. As you just read above, this happens.
You can always look up the charges for yourself on this site using the numbers.
It's actually a good site to bookmark. You never know when you'll need to educate yourself on the law.
I hope everyone has found this useful. It's one of the many reasons I ask you to click into the story and read the story and use the links in the story because any updates will automatically adjust here. Screenshots are only a shot from that moment in time.
This story is a follow up, side bar story to an earlier story we brought you over the weekend, which can be found here. https://www.coloradonewsyourway.com/post/weekend-chaos-at-loaf-jug
