(La Junta, CO) -- With windy weather and dry conditions firefighters across the plains watch carefully as wildfire season approaches. La Junta Fire Chief Brad Davidson says the best way to protect your property is to clean up the dried brush, leaves and tree branches near your home. Davidson says often times low hanging tree branches can catch on fire in a wildfire. Also, if you are unsure of whether or not it is safe to burn call the fire department to check.
