It was news to him.
State Representative Ty Winter said he woke up to the news like many of the confused and concerned citizens in his district that many counties were named on a list that support sanctuary status.
After a Department of Homeland Security news release named Baca, Bent, Kiowa, Otero, and Prowers counties, commissioners started calling Winter to ask for help in getting their counties off the list.

The above named counties, along with many more, have passed resolutions stating they would not be a sanctuary county so many didn't understand why they were named.
"So, right away I started getting on the phone, I called one commissioner in each county in my district, I told them that if they had a resolution on the books that was against sanctuary status that they needed to send that to the staffers of either Hurd or congresswoman Boebert," Winter said.
In Winter's district, the only county left off the list in Southeast Colorado was Crowley County.
Winter furthered that a few counties have already been successful in getting their counties removed from the list and expects an update.
This is a developing story, and we'll post updates as we have them.
