Paws For Life Animal Shelter Evacuated in Pueblo Due to Wildfire

(Pueblo, CO) -- The Paw for Life Animal Shelter has been evacuated to take the animals to safety following a wildfire that broke out Sunday afternoon. KOAA news is reporting through Twitter and on their social media page that the animals are now safe and the public's help isn't needed to get them out. They are at the fairgrounds in Pueblo and if you would and could help, they're asking for donations of dog and cat food.

High winds are making getting the fire under control difficult. According to the NBC affiliate, neighborhoods near the 11th street and Pueblo Boulevard area have been put on alert to evacuate.

The National Weather Service has released several hazardous weather warning statements regarding today's weather. A Red Flag Fire warning is also in effect for SE Colorado. The following counties are affected:

Crowley, Otero, Bent, Baca, Prowers, Kiowa, Lincoln, Las Animas, Pueblo, Kit Carson and Cheyenne, and more. Here's a map from the National Weather Service's website to show exactly where the danger lies.
