(La Junta, CO) -- Otero County Commissioners took another step closer to an improved detention center at Monday's regularly scheduled meeting.
County Administrator Amy White Tanabe said the county is now accepting bids to design and build the proposed new facility. It's been several years in the works. "The county has looked at and discussed for many years and is such a need so it's time to cut bait, right? And get to work on it."
The facility will house a new and improved detention center and Sheriff's administrative offices.
The Request For Proposal is on the Otero County government's website.
