No.
That's the word from the Bent County Commissioners on a request for Arkansas River Farms to change their name to AV Farms under a current 1041 permit. The action was taken at Thursday's County Commissioner meeting.
In May, a full house of Bent County Residents showed up to hear from the company and to ask questions as commissioners were tasked with reviewing an application that stated AV Farms, LLP (“AV Farms”) jointly requests that the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Bent (the “Board”) acting as the Permit Authority approve the following modifications to the 1041 Permit partially releasing ARF and assigning partial responsibility to AV Farms.
Concerns from residents in attendance in person at the meeting and on Zoom felt the company had fallen flat on promises made to revegetate a portion of land, earlier dried up to build a dairy.

AV Farm's Karl Nyquist explained in person, at a meeting in May that it's been hard for them to revegetate land previously dried up because of the lack of rain to Southeast Colorado in the last few years.
Nyquist appeared by phone for Thursday's meeting.
On July 1st, Bent County Commissioners went into executive session with legal counsel to receive legal advice on the 1041 application and water issues.
We will continue to follow up on this story.
