Bowen to Present on the Lost Sand Creek Site Discovery in La Junta on Saturday, October 25

The following news release is from the Bowens.

LA JUNTA, CO - Mike Bowen, with The Lost Sand Creek, will be presenting at the Woodruff Memorial Library in La Junta, located at 522 Colorado Ave., on Saturday, October 25 at 1 p.m. on the discovery of the Lost Sand Creek Site, the real location of Black Kettle’s village and running battle areas. The Friends of Woodruff Memorial Library is hosting the book program.

Chuck Bowen, with the assistance of his wife, Sheri, discovered the Lost Sand Creek Site on the Bowen family ranch in the late 90’s. They found over 4,000 village and battle artifacts, all starting about two miles up the creek from where the Sand Creek Battle Ground monument once sat at the National Park Service Sand Creek site. The Bowens’ archaeological discovery not only shows the real 1864 Sand Creek location, it reveals the truth about that event.
