Updated: Jan 20, 2022

(Eads, CO) -- Former Kiowa County Deputy Quinten Stump's trial that was set to Thursday, January 20th is now on the docket for March. Stump is on trial for the shooting death of Zachery Gifford on a traffic stop in April of 2020. According to an article in the Kiowa County Independent,

Stump faces two counts of second degree attempted murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon. That was presented in a preliminary hearing in April of 2021, one year after the shooting.

Undersheriff Tracy Weisenhorn was with Stump on the traffic stop but was not charged because it was determined that she had not done a pat down and could have believed that Gifford had a weapon.

The jury trial starts Thursday, January 20th, in Eads, Colorado at the Kiowa County district courtroom at 8 am.
