Second Time in a Week, Dogs Attack Rocky Ford Police Officer

Rocky Ford, Colo. – September 2nd, 2025 – Rocky Ford Police Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of South 6th Street on a report of a shot fired.

The first arriving Police Officer contacted a person on the sidewalk. While the Officer was speaking with this person, they were charged by a dog. The Officer retreated into the street where they were bit. The officer fired two shots, one of which struck the dog. The dog retreated and then charged the Officer again while the Officer was in the street. The Officer fired another shot and the dog stopped attacking momentarily. The dog then charged the Officer again and the Officer fired another round, which missed the dog and struck the ground.


The Officer sustained minor injuries and was treated at the ER and released. There are no reports of anyone else injured.

The involved dog and owner were not involved in the incident on August 27th, 2025.


This incident is still under investigation.
