Call it good timing or bad timing if you will but Fort Lyon will be hosting a Community Lunch in September. A letter went out to those living near the Fort.
This came about a week after a KKTV report of an attempted break-in of a home close to Ft. Lyon by a now former resident of the program.
According to the report by Channel 11, Randa Morlan tells the news crew that she's begging the local Coalition for the Homeless, who administers the Ft. Lyon addiction program, that more security is needed.
The letter posted below explains the lunch will include a chance for neighbors invited to meet the Ft. Lyon staff and residents and learn about the program.
In the interview with KKTV, Morlan said she felt the community needed to know if the residents had criminal backgrounds.
Ft. Lyon Program Director Lisa Trigilio feels that people living near the fort don't need to be afraid of the folks in the program.
Trigilio told KKTV that she understands that the people in the program don't always act the way they should and added that can happen anywhere.
The letter posted below invites the community out to see for themselves and ask questions of the staff and administration. They ask, if you do want to come that you let them know so that they can have enough food. The letter, in its entirety, is posted below.
