(Cheraw, CO) -- A request for cards, letters, prayers and support is being met for a small Otero county community mourning the loss of one of their own. The community is pouring out the love following the death of a sixteen year old boy who died Thursday in a single car rollover crash. According to the Colorado State patrol, three other boys were in the vehicle at the time which happened on a rural road that locals refer to as the Holbrook Canal. Two 13-year-old boys were taken to the hospital with serious injuries and a seven year old boy was treated for moderate injuries.
The Colorado State patrol says speed was considered to be a factor in this crash.
Area schools have posted to support Cheraw school in any way. Basketball teams have huddled together to link arms and pray for the school, community, and the families affected.
Social media posts ask that cards be sent to Joe at 708 Camfield Avenue, La Junta, 81050
