(Hasty, CO) -- The tiny town of Hasty, Colorado in Bent County drew a fairly good sized crowd when candidates made a stop to chat about issues. Representative Rod Pelton announced he will be making the switch from the House to run for the Senate seat that will be vacated by Senator Jerry Sonnenberg. Candidate Ty Winter wants to represent southeast Colorado in the 47th district in the House and announced his reasons for running. Both men, should they win the seat will represent Bent and Otero county as part of the new maps drawn up from redistricting.
Bent County Sheriff Jake Six and Undersheriff Wick Turner were also in attendance Saturday. Bent County Treasurer Kathy Brown stopped in to listen to the candidates too.
Both Representative Pelton and Candidate Winter stressed the importance of staying involved with the party and informed about what's happening in state politics.
