It's back, a popular three day event in Bent County and celebrating its 20th year, Bent On Birding. The popular event is set for May 16-18th.

The event features birding trails with guides at John Martin Reservoir State Park
and private trails if the weather is nice enough. You'll have a chance to visit private sites that usually aren't open to the public. There's also a guided tour of an auto museum with collections of classic restored Studebakers. Also, expect a tour to a private wild animal refuge with lions, tigers, bears and mustangs. You will need a four-wheel drive and high-clearance vehicle to tour the private ranch where you'll see Petroglyphs, homesteads, dinosaur tracks and nature. This will be followed by a guided tour of Boggsville, which was once home to Kit Carson.
