Bent County Fair 2026 Brings New Talent Show, Rodeo, and Youth Events

(Las Animas, CO)  --  With just over a month to go, excitement is building as Bent County prepares for another memorable county fair.

The 2026 Bent County Fair runs July 23 through August 1 and will feature several new additions alongside longtime favorites. One of the biggest highlights this year is the debut of a community talent show, set for Monday night of fair week. Fair board members say they’re excited to introduce the event and hope to see strong local participation and support.

Livestock events kick off Saturday, July 25, with the Horse Show beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Shooting Sports Contest follows on Sunday, July 26, also at 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 27, will showcase 4-H participants entering their consumer and general projects, with the General Projects Awards and Auction scheduled for 5:30 p.m. that evening.

Animal project check-ins and shows begin Tuesday, starting with rabbit and poultry exhibits, and barns will be open for all species throughout the week.

For many youth participants, the fair represents months of hard work and dedication. While the long hours can be challenging, students often say there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing their projects come together in the show ring. To help them prepare, a regional livestock boot camp is scheduled for June 25. Those interested can contact the Bent County Extension Office or visit its social media page for details.

The fair will also welcome back several popular events. Kids Day returns on Thursday, offering free crafts, educational booths, and hands-on activities for children of all ages.

Fairgoers are encouraged to attend the Junior Livestock Market Sale on Friday at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Friday Night Feed and Buyer’s Dinner. The evening wraps up with the rodeo, making it a full night of community celebration.

Live entertainment will once again take center stage with a concert featuring Kansas band Crazy Horse 2.0. The weekend will also include rodeo action and a beer garden on Saturday night only.

Organizers say this year’s fair promises a mix of tradition, new experiences, and plenty of opportunities for the community to come together and celebrate Bent County.
