MEET THE CANDIDATES
The primary election is coming up in June, 2022. And if you don’t really understand what the primary election is and how it works, plan to attend the TEN Talks at the Grand Theater in Rocky Ford on May 19th.
The first TEN Talk will be held at the Grand Theater in Rocky Ford on Thursday, May 19, 2022, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Candidates for Secretary of State, U.S. Senate and Governor have been invited to be present, as well as the candidates for Otero County Commissioner. Each candidate present will have time to introduce themselves, and there will be a short meet and greet following the introductions.
The Thursday Education Night Talks – TEN Talks, are free and open to the public. The TEN Talks are being hosted to educate and engage Arkansas Valley citizens about current state and national issues, candidates running for elected office, and how the election process works. The TEN Talks will be held the third Thursday of each month at the Grand Theater in Rocky Ford.
The primary election will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, and the election is the start of the process to select candidates for public office within a specific political party. In a primary election Republicans run against Republicans, and Democrats run against Democrats. One candidate from each party will then move on to the general election held in November.
The TEN Talks are organized and sponsored by the Otero County Republican Women (OCRW).
