(La Junta, CO) -- We are waiting for word on who will fill the shoes and robe of outgoing and retiring 16th Judicial District Judge Michael Schiferl.
As of Wednesday, June 8th a news release has yet to be posted on the state site.
The Sixteenth Judicial District Nominating Commission has nominated three candidates for a district court judgeship created by the retirement of the Hon. Michael A. Schiferl. Whoever is chosen will take over July 2, 2022.
A commission selected three nominees that Governor Jared Polis will now have to select his decision from:
William J. Culver of Rocky Ford
Rodney D. Fouracre Sr. of La Junta
Samuel S. Vigil of Las Animas
Under the Colorado Constitution, the governor has 15 days from May 26, 2022, within which to appoint one of the nominees as district court judge for the Sixteenth Judicial District.
Governor Polis could decide before the 15 days so we are watching to see who the new judge will be.
