Weekly Incident Report 9/3-9/9
9/3/2022 Deputies responded to the 100 block of Bent Avenue in Las Animas for the report of suspicious activity. Deputies investigated the matter and impounded the vehicle for an outside agency.
Deputies were notified of livestock on Hwy 194 and MM 17. Deputies responded and assisted the owner in putting livestock back into the pasture.
Deputies responded to the area of Hwy 50 and MM 417 for a traffic complaint. Deputies located the vehicle, and were unable to verify the traffic complaint.
Deputies responded to the 700 block of Vine Avenue for a landlord-tenant issue. Deputies advised the tenant that it was a civil issue.
Deputies responded to the 31000 block of County Road 10.5 for a report of threats being made. Deputies spoke with all parties and determined that no threats were made.
Deputies responded to the 3000 block of county road in Las Animas for the report of a civil problem. Deputies advised the party to contact the courthouse for the civil issue.
Deputies responded to the 200 block of 6th street for an individual who had a warrant. Deputies were unable to locate the person.
Deputies responded to the 300 block of 4th street in Las Animas for the report of a civil matter. Deputies explained they need to follow the court's orders.
Deputies responded to the 16000 block of County Road JJ in Las Animas for the report of dove hunters shooting towards a house. Deputies were able to locate the hunters and advised them they needed to be sure where the houses are in the area.
Deputies responded to the 500 block of Poplar Avenue in Las Animas for the report of missing children. Deputies were able to locate the children and return them home.
Deputies responded to the 3000 block of county road 10 in Las Animas for the report of threats being made. Deputies were able to determine no threats were made.
Deputies responded to the 800 block of 3rd street in Las Animas for the report of medical assistance. Deputies were unable to help due to being on another call.
Deputies responded to the 3000 block of county road 10 in Las Animas for the report of burglary. Deputies were unable to locate any activity.
Deputies responded to the 200 block of 6th street in Las Animas for the report of a juvenile problem. Deputies contacted the Department of Human Services.
9/4/2022 Deputies responded to the 400 block of Elm Avenue in Las Animas for the report of shots fired. Deputies were unable to locate any activity.
Deputies responded to the 600 block of St Vrain in Las Animas for a report of a suspicious person. Deputies were unable to locate the person.
Deputies responded to the 30000 block of CR 10 on a report of burglary. Deputies are investigating the issue.
Deputies responded to the 1900 block of 6th St. on a report of a suspicious item. Deputies advised that the item was the inside of a "Vape Pen". Deputies discarded the item.
Deputies responded to the 200 block of 6th street to assist the ambulance. The party refused to be taken to the hospital.
Deputies responded to the 400 block of 6th St on a report of possible shots fired. Deputies patrolled the area and were unable to locate where the noise came from.
Deputies were advised of a suspicious party at the 300 block of 4th Street. Deputies located the male party and determined everything to be okay.
Deputies were advised of a suspicious vehicle at the 11000 block of County Road FF.75 in Las Animas. Deputies attempted to look for the vehicle but were unsuccessful.
Deputies responded to the 300 block of North Lincoln Ave in McClave for a 911 hang-up. Deputies were unable to locate where the call came from.
Deputies were advised by a female party of suspicious activity at the 500 block of 6th Street. Deputies will be conducting more patrols during graveyard shifts.
Deputies were advised of a male party throwing rocks at the 400 block of 3rd Street. Upon arrival, deputies were unable to locate anyone matching the description.
Deputies received a call for a vehicle with their door open for an extended period of time near the 300 block of 4th Street. Deputies located the vehicle and advised the owner that their car door was left open.
Deputies responded to the 800 block of 3rd Street for an ambulance assist. Deputies assisted EMS with loading the patient.
9/5/2022 Deputies received a phone call about a possible theft. Deputies responded to the 1200 block of 9th St. for an investigation.
Deputies responded to the 600 block of Lincoln Ave in Las Animas for a report of a dog attack on goats. Deputies patrolled the area and were unable to locate the dogs in question.
Deputies responded to Highway 50 and Highway 183 on a report of trespassing. Deputies contacted the party and found them to be heading home and were pulled off the road for a break.
Deputies responded to the 600 block of St. Vrain Ave to assist the ambulance. The party was loaded and taken to the hospital in La Junta.
Deputies responded to the 800 block of 3rd St. to assist the ambulance. Due to Covid restrictions, deputies did not assist. The party was loaded and taken to the hospital in La Junta.
Deputies were advised of a suspicious male party near the area of 9th street and Carson Avenue. Deputies were unable to locate the male party.
Deputies received a call to speak with a male party about lost property while camping at the John Martin Reservoir. Deputies spoke with the male party by phone and advised the party to make a report about the incident.
9/6/2022 Deputies responded to the 300 block of Maple Ave on a report of a violation of a protection order. Deputies are investigating the issue.
Deputies responded to the 700 block of Moore Ave on a report of a 911 misdial. Deputies checked on the residence and found everything to be okay.
Deputies responded to Highway 50 and Mile post 401 on a report of a dangerous driver heading Eastbound on Highway 50. Deputies searched for the vehicle but were unable to locate it.
Deputies were advised of a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the Highway near County Road 15 and Highway 50. Deputies were unable to locate any traffic violations upon arrival.
Deputies received a call for a suspicious person walking near County Road 14.5 and County Road FF.50. Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate anyone.
Deputies were dispatched to the 900 block of 5th Street for threats made over social media. Deputies took the information and advised the female party a report would be filed and to block the party from social media.
Deputies received a call for an unwanted party at the 500 block of Oakland Avenue. Deputies advised the party to leave for the night.
Deputies were dispatched for a welfare check to the 600 block of Ambassador Thompson Boulevard. Deputies assisted the ambulance with the welfare check, but the female party declined any further medical assistance.
Deputies responded to the 11000 block of County Road GG.5 in Las Animas, Colorado for the report of an unwanted party. After further investigation, deputies determined that the individual possibly required a mental health evaluation.
Deputies responded to the 900 block of Ash Avenue in Las Animas, Colorado for the report of a disturbance. After further investigation, Deputies determined that everything was okay.
9/7/2022 Deputies responded to the intersection of 5th Street and Bent Avenue for a report of suspicious activity. After further investigation, deputies determined that everything was okay.
Deputies responded to the 1000 block of Locust Ave for ambulance assistance. Deputies assisted ambulance personnel.
Deputies responded to the 200 block of 1st St. for a traffic complaint. Deputies spoke with the driver and gave a warning.
Deputies responded to the 700 block of Bent Ave for a suspicious person. Deputies were unable to locate any suspicious person.
Deputies responded to the 100 block of Locust Ave for an unattended death. Deputies assisted the coroner.
Deputies contacted a vehicle on Highway 50 and Mile post 404 for speeding. Upon further investigation, deputies found the driver to not have a valid driver's license. The party was served a summons.
Deputies responded to the 1000 block of Grand Avenue in Las Animas, Colorado for the report of suspicious activity. Deputies made entry into the residence. After searching the residence and seeing no obvious signs of criminal activity, deputies determined that everything was okay.
Deputies responded to County Road HH and County Road 15 in Las Animas for the report of a suspicious vehicle. Deputies were unable to locate the vehicle.
Deputies responded to the 1000 block of Cottonwood Avenue in Las Animas for the report of a runaway person. Deputies contacted the Department of Human Services.
Deputies received a call back for a civil problem. The party was able to get their property back before deputies arrived.
Deputies responded to Highway 50 and County Road 6.5 to assist another agency. Deputies assisted the Colorado State Patrol with the investigation.
9/8/2022 Deputies responded to the 100 block of Bent Ave for a report of a non-injury traffic accident. Deputies investigated the crash.
Deputies responded to the area of Hwy 50 and MM 393 for a horse out on the highway. Deputies assisted in putting the horse back into the pasture.
Deputies responded to the 500 block of Poplar Ave for a report of a welfare check. Deputies spoke with the party and determined everything was okay.
Deputies responded to the 400 block of Cottonwood for the report of lost keys.
Deputies responded to the 200 block of 6th Street for an ambulance call. Deputies assisted ambulance personnel.
Deputies responded to the 500 block of Poplar to return a juvenile who was missing from home.
Deputies responded to Highway 194 and Mile Marker 12 for the report of a car versus deer. Deputies found minimal damage to the car. Deputies took pictures and released the car.
Deputies conducted a security check at the Las Animas Electric power plant due to finding open doors. Deputies spoke with the on-site employee and determined everything to be okay.
Deputies responded to the 300 block of Locust in Las Animas for the report of theft. Deputies investigated the matter and found it to be a civil matter between the family.
Deputies advised Dispatch that a train was obstructing the crossings at 8th Street and Moore Avenue, as well as the crossing at 8th Street and Carson Avenue.

9/9/2022 Deputies responded to the 29000 block of County Road 25.75 in Hasty for the report of a burglar alarm. Deputies cleared the building and determined everything to be okay.
Deputies responded to the 300 block of 11th St for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Deputies investigated and determined the car was parked legally.
Deputies responded to the 700 block of Park Ave for a report of property damage. Deputies arrived and determined that no property damage took place.
Deputies responded to the 600 block of Ambassador Thompson for a vehicle unlock. Deputies unlocked the vehicle.
Deputies responded to the 300 block of Ambassador Thompson for dogs on the road. Deputies were unable to locate the dogs.

Deputies responded to the 29000 block of County Road LL for the report of a smoke alarm. The fire department arrived and found heavy smoke and some fire. Deputies determined the fire to be from an irrigation power source.

Deputies responded to the 900 block of 4th street in Las Animas for the report of a dog at large. Deputies were unable to locate the dog.
Deputies responded to the 9000 block of Highway 194 in Las Animas for the report of civil issues. Deputies advised the party they had to follow what the court had ordered.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop. One male was taken into custody for DUI.
